With the introduction of Smartphones and Smart Devices (Notebooks, iPads, Tablets) Desktop device usage in the workplace is rapidly dwindling. The concept of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is emerging as the great trend all over the world. According to the survey conducted by Cisco it has been stated that 81 per cent of college candidates and young professionals wants to acquire money from their respective organizations to purchase the device of their own preference or bring their own device. Nowadays most of the employees in the organizations consider bringing their personal devices for the corporate use. With the help of this concept of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) employees can use their personally owned devices at the workplace. Due to the improvement in technology the comfort level of consumer personally owned devices is increasing day by day. For this the employees want to use their technology at the corporate workplace as they are quite comfortable and familiar with it. The concept of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) has become inevitable trend. According to the latest survey approximately 28 per cent of the employees are using their personally owned devices at workplace for corporate use. And this percentage is expected to rise by 35 per cent by 2013 year. BYOD also gives the employees the option to work from home that is known as virtual work environments.

It also brings flexibility to the work environment

It is the cost efficient method that saves the money

It also helps to reduce the operating cost

It also increases the employee satisfaction

There are some obstacles also for the organizations while implementing the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) concept. The biggest challenge is while BYOD concept is the tracking and controlling of the information. The main factor to be considered is the security. As there is requirement to protect the corporate data, It department must gain the comprehensive insight how to bifurcate the corporate data from personal data. Special polices should be enforced that are acceptable to the employees as well as meet requirements for data security. The agreement should be signed form the employees while using their personally owned devices. The company should have some procedure to wipe the data as soon as the employee leaves the organization.
