Rome

For those who love culture, a city break in the nations capital is perfect. Here, one can find the magnificent Colosseum, the Spanish Steps and the absolutely stunning Trevi Fountain. Every corner of this great city is replete with art and statues that speak of the brilliance of the artists and date back many centuries. No visit to Rome can be termed complete without a visit to the Vatican City, the smallest country in the world. Witness the splendid art and sculpture work of Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel and St. Peters Basilica. One has the choice of visiting the city during the winter months when there is a smaller crowd or during the summer when one can witness many al fresco events.

Florence

Want to take a city break that takes you back in time? Florence is a city that is adorned by the spectacular countryside of Tuscany and welcomes you to a version of Italy as it was in the olden days. The cityscape is dominated by the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore. The heart of the city also has a treat for the taste buds with fantastic restaurants, bars and boutiques. The Uffizi Gallery is a must-visit for it houses some of the largest collections of artwork from Botticelli.

Venice

There cannot be a single person who hasnt thought about taking a city break in one of the most romantic cities of the world - Venice. One can explore the city either on foot or taking one of the Gondolas that move over the Venetian canals. Like other cities in Italy, Venice too is replete with artistry excellence with the Peggy Guggenheim Collection being one of the centers along with the Biennale, an art fair of the city. In the very heart of the city, one can find the famous Piazza San Marco.

Naples

The city of Naples offers its visitors plenty of eyeball exercise with the silhouette of Mount Vesuvius and a trip to the ancient city of Pompeii being the highlight. Once here, one should visit the islands of Capri and Ischia for some of the most breathtaking sceneries. Ancient Roman Civilization comes back to life to teach todays people how the people then once lived without the aid of modern technology.

Other cities that one can choose to visit on a city break to Italy are Milan, Verona and Bologna. One essential advice would be: please make sure your camera is working.
