subject: Changing My Appearance. [print this page] The word plastic surgery used to be used pretty infrequently. If you talked about plastic surgery it was kind of forbidden. These days there are billboards all over advertising different plastic surgery ideas. Liposuction, lip augmentation, breast implants, tummy tuck, and different cosmetic procedures for your face. That's just the beginning of all of the different plastic surgery options that are out there.
After I had my baby and had the loose belly I would see all the signs for a tummy tuck plastic surgery procedure. I honestly felt so tempted to do that. It's an easy fix and my husband would be (well at least act) supportive and say if that's what I wanted I could do it but that I'd have to keep the lifestyle of keeping weight off my belly. In reality all I needed to do was eat healthy and exercise.
There are times that plastic surgery really is the best or only option for your body. Any type of surgery is risky and I know plastic surgery is done all the time, but it still scares me. I know most people that have breast augmentation plastic surgery do breast implants. I have known a few people who were born 'well endowed' and had back issues so actually had to get a breast reduction. Which was actually paid for by their insurance.
I think some people go a little to far with trying to make themselves look different. Everyone has their own look to them, they were born that way. So if they are not happy with the nose on their face they can do plastic surgery to feel better about themselves. But when they change their whole appearance with a face lift, nose job, liposuction, breast implants, lip augmentation, etc... It changes who they were.
I think plastic surgery is very important for a lot of people. If someone was in an accident or had some type of injury, reconstructive surgery is a must sometimes. How grateful these patients must be to have the availability of plastic surgery.
My friend is in the process of laser hair removal. She is super excited about the final result. It has taken several months of repeated laser hair removal procedures but is coming along. Everyone these days wants an easy lifestyle and if plastic surgery is the answer, than so be it. I am not to that point yet of changing my appearance in a surgical manner. Some people are blessed with better skin than others and my not ever have to have a face lift or laser skin resurfacing. We all will take what we get.
Next time I see a billboard or an ad about plastic surgery, I'll try not to get any ideas in my head. In all reality I don't need a nose job (even though my nose is crooked from being broken when I was young.) I don't HAVE to get breast implants to feel good about myself or even a tummy tuck after this next baby is born. There may be a day that plastic surgery is a must for me but for now I will be happy with what I was born with. For those that have had plastic surgery, more power to you! :)
