subject: Why Choose Quality Brands Like Bosch Fridges For Your Home [print this page]

At a time when many of us are struggling to make ends meet it can often be tempting to buy the cheapest option available when purchasing new kitchen and household appliances. However, despite the fact that many budget designs may seem like a good deal they do not necessarily offer the best value for money and therefore you should be wary of what you purchase.

When trying to calculate the best option available you should look at all of the factors that affect the potential cost of an appliance. In a fridge freezer this will include the initial cost, the running costs in terms of energy, the cost of potential repairs and the overall life expectancy of the product, i.e. how soon will you have to replace it. There are several very useful independent websites that will calculate the running and repair costs for you so all you need to do is add on the initial cost.

When comparing the quality of two similar fridges it is generally the case that you get what you pay for. However, this does not mean that you have to fork out hundreds of pounds for a design that offers more than you need. For example, many people are attracted to the features of the American fridge freezers that offer an enormous 500 litre capacity, independent fridge and freezer cooling systems, a cold water dispenser and ice machine. Unless you have a need for such a large fridge with these features though there is little point in investing in one because a half-full fridge is more costly to run.

Energy efficiency is a very important factor because the difference in running costs between a highly energy efficient fridge and a less energy efficient fridge can amount to hundreds of pounds over the course of a few years. Trading Standards award most kitchen appliances with an eco-efficiency rating that enables you to make quick and easy comparisons. These grades range from G in the lowest band right the way through to A+++, so you should try to look for a product that is at least A rated or higher. Features like thicker insulation, auto defrost or even an audio warning to signal when the fridge door has been left open can all help to reduce the overall running costs of your chosen fridge.

Lastly a good quality fridge will look stylish and comprise of a well thought-out design. You will often find high quality materials like stainless steel, glass shelves, and robust plastics with an antibacterial coating to help maintain a clean and hygienic space to store your food.
