subject: Heat Stroke [print this page] The English bulldogs are very sensitive about temperature and they need special care and attention in hot weather. The English bulldogs owner should be very careful and observe the bulldog daily and also save them from heat. The English bulldogs get suffered quickly by heat stroke and it may lead to death of the bulldog. The English bulldogs love to takes sun bath and they also love to lie under the sun. The English bulldogs have good sense when to go in shade and left the sun area. When you leave your dog in car in hot weather, chances of heat stroke increased. Heat stroke gets severe very rapidly. The symptoms of the heat stroke are blue colored tongue, heavy painting, vomiting and starts roaring. The bulldogs also refused to drink water, lick ice or eat meal when they are suffering from the heat stroke. The English bulldog may vomit a white thick form liquid that must be cleared and at that stage proper action is needed. Sometimes when the bulldog is suffering from heat stroke and unable to vomit so help the bulldog in clearing the throat so that he can intake the air properly. By putting ice cubes between the teeth of the bulldogs helps in reducing the swelling in the throat. You can also give your bulldog lemon juice or soda that may help in vomiting and also clear the throat of the bulldog. When the throat of the bulldog is cleared then temperature of the bulldog body is also starts reducing. The most effective way to reduce temperature is to take bath to the bulldog with cold water. If you cant able to give bath to your bulldog with cold water then put ice cubes on the head of the bulldog. Once your bulldog starts feeling better and temperature gets reducing then dry the body of the bulldog and keep him in dry place so that the bulldog feel good and relax. In hot waters, the English bulldogs need fresh cool water. Make sure that the English bulldog has supply of fresh cool water every time. in hot weather, the bulldog should be give bath with cold water daily. If you are using crate for your bulldog so the crate should be designed in a way that the plenty of fresh air can enter in the crate. When your travelling or have to leave the bulldog alone in the house in hot weather then use ice in the crate or near the bulldog. Use ice bag collar on the neck of the bulldogs that keeps the temperature of the bulldog body low and also prevent the bulldog from the heat stroke. Cooling mats are also available that can be used in crates and also on bed of th bulldogs to keep them cold. If the bulldog is not cured quickly and suffering with heat stroke for than two days then vet checkups is very important and proper treatment should be given to the bulldog. In hot weather the room of the bulldog should also be cool and take special care of your bulldog.
