subject: Effective Article Marketing Strategies Do Work! [print this page]

When I first got online about 5 years ago article marketing and more important, having an effective article marketing strategy in place was really all the rage. Nowadays there are loads of people, and I'm not one of them, who say article marketing is dead! What the heck! Does it still work or not?

Well yes it does still work providing you go about it the right way, and get rid of all those bad habits you picked up, when times were good, before the Google clampdown.

You may need to change the way you think about article marketing and forget all you have been taught about using mass article submitters to send your poorly spun articles to thousand of article directories. If you keep on doing this then you may gain a few backlinks, but you have to ask yourself if in fact these backlinks will be any good at all.

Should we still concentrate on using articles in order to market our sites? I think we should, but it all depends on what type of marketing you want to do. For myself it ties in with my search engine optimization strategy as well as driving traffic directly to my site. If you are into SEO at all then you must still use an article marketing strategy.

And the reason you must do this is because you need to have plenty of links pointing to your main site, or money site, then you need to apply SEO techniques to get back links to those links. But one thing to bear in mind is what I said above, if all your back links are from crappy sites to start with they will still be of little value when you back link them.

One decent link from an authority site is worth more than a hundred links from a poor, visitor less, article directly, and it does pay to spend a little more time to get decent links.

I have to be honest I did try one of the favorite mass article submitters and even had some spun content to send out but it wasn't successful. After one week of daily automatic submission to about 300 sites I checked my links and only 41 links where found. It sounds good submitting to what could have been 1500 site in a week but to end up with only 41 actual submissions certainly wasn't worth the effort.

Does That Mean We Can't Automate?

Let's be clear about this, I am all in favour of automating those tasks that can be automated, and I do use a quality submission service to send my articles to quality directories. In my opinion the best article submission tool in existence today is Submit Your Article and is the one I use on a regular basis.

By all means spin your content before distributing it but there is no quick way to do this. There is not a single article spinner out there that will spin and produce readable articles at the press of a button. Use them by all means but you must manually spin your article your self to ensure to quality of your content.

Some folk are going to disagree with what I've said here, and I don't really care, but this is how I use my article marketing strategy, and it does seem to be working as part of my overall SEO marketing plan
