subject: Invest In A 3d Blu-ray Player For The Ultimate Home Cinema Experience [print this page]

Technology is continually advancing to bring us new and exciting experiences. The technology behind televisions has advanced rapidly over the last decade or so and unless you have made an effort to keep up with all the latest gadgets it is likely you may be left feeling a little behind the times. All of the new terminology surrounding high definition television may seem confusing but you only really need a basic understanding of the technology to understand how it all works and which solution is right for you.

High definition television offers a much higher quality image than standard definition television. In fact, a two megapixel HDTV (1920 x 1080p) offers a resolution that is roughly five times that of standard definition television. If you want to be able to enjoy this new amazing picture quality you will need to invest in a full HDTV or HD ready TV with a device that can decode HD TV signals. You will also need a cable or satellite package that enables you to receive these channels.

The high definition format for watching movies is a Blu-ray disc. Blu-ray discs have a much greater storage capacity than DVDs, which is necessary for holding the larger amounts of data in high definition movie files. Since Blu-ray discs are crammed with all this extra data they also require a more precise blue-violet laser to read them. This differs from the traditional red laser found in DVD players and CD players and for this reason you will need to purchase a Blu-ray player in order to view Blu-ray discs.

Since it looks like Blu-ray is set to become the new standard movie format for households then now is a good time to invest in a Blu-ray player. You can also still view all of your existing DVD collection on a Blu-ray player and in fact the player will upscale the images to improve the quality. There are various options when it comes to choosing a Blu-ray player. For example, many Blu-ray discs come with a new BD-Live feature that allows you to explore further interactive features related to your film. Players that come with a BD-Live function will cost a little more but will allow you to get the most out of your new Blu-ray collection.

In addition, if you have invested in a 3D HDTV then you may also want to consider a 3D Blu-ray player that will allow you to view your film collection in 3D. This offers a new and exciting viewing experience for the whole family that we never though would be achievable until a few years ago.
