subject: Insourcing, Outsourcing And Made In America [print this page]

The insourcing is not newThe insourcing is not new. If you search online, you find articles, blog posts and other written material on this topic 3 or 4 years back the way you find it today. Despite all the serious speeches and addresses made by Mr. Obama, his crew and his opponents, there are some common points that clearly show the link between writings on the very topic of insourcing. So, what is this link or commonality that is not easily understandable? Whether this insourcing becomes a serious risk for the BPO companies offering back office services or other offshore outsourcing services, lets discuss the reason behind the agenda on which Obama Govt. is working.

Everybody is looking at economy, discussing it and all this is happening in a specific time the elections time. So, this election time period is the commonality among the writings that we find on the topic of insourcing. The difference is that they are working on it on a next level. The goal behind this agenda is bringing the manufacturing jobs back that will result in more jobs and financial stability. The national economy will definitely boost up. The Obama and his crew want to bring back the outsourced manufacturing jobs to the country aiming at creating a strong consumer base through strong middle class. This will help the national economy get stable. Following excerpt from one of Mr. Obamas addresses shows his vision in a clear way:

"I don't want America to be a nation that's primarily known for financial speculation and racking up debt buying stuff from other nations. I want us to be known for making and selling products all over the world stamped with three proud words: "Made in America."

Now apparently, everything goes in favor of national economy. However, whether this would be a successful endeavor or not, is debatable. The Obama crew is hitting Romney hard for outsourcing jobs from Massachusetts during his governorship and applying strict conditions on companies who are outsourcing their business tasks to outside the country. There are also benefits for the companies who bring manufacturing or other jobs back to the country. This situation is really alarming for the BPO companies especially those who have US as target market. There are different perspectives by different people with respect to the phenomenon of insourcing. I would also like to share my perspective with you on this topic.

As far as ringing the manufacturing jobs back to country is concerned, I think it will take time to make it successful. The reason behind this time taking is that America is a still one of those countries who outsource most business tasks to back office outsourcing or other offshore outsourcing companies. Thats why they have been getting it done at low cost by professionals. As there was no demand for this profession, thats why the number of professionals is also not very big. This is why it will take insourcing some time before it gains some mass as a better alternative for offshoring.
