subject: Rheumatoid Arthritis? Try Getting More Omega 3 [print this page]

What do you know about Rheumatoid Arthritis? I have seen people suffering from it but I am not certain what it is. I have seen many people suffering from what they consider to be a form of arthritis, but when does it develop into Rheumatoid?

Rheumatoid Arthritis is a form of arthritis which is crippling in nature. People who have Rheumatoid Arthritis or RA typically have swollen joints. Their fingers may be swollen and appear deformed. Rheumatoid Arthritis is a degenerative disease due to which, the interior lining of the joints swells up. The immune system of the body rebels against itself attacking the healthy lining of the joints. The damage due to RA cannot be reversed. It is also possible that Rheumatoid Arthritis will cause problems with the other internal organs of your body such as your heart, lungs, and skin. Rheumatoid Arthritis has been found to be more common in women as compared to men. That does not mean that men are not afflicted by it, there are just lesser chances of developing RA.

The American diet is the main culprit behind the development of Rheumatoid Arthritis. It has been found that rheumatoid arthritis is caused by an over consumption of polyunsaturated fats and the deficiency of omega 3 in our diets. We in fact are consuming too much of the omega 6 in ratio to omega 3. If the diet is low in omega 3, the omega 6 fatty acids could be making the RA worse for many. Omega 3 balances the bad effect of omega 6, i.e the swelling of the tissue.

It is very difficult to diagnose the development of rheumatoid arthritis in the early stages. So many of the symptoms of RA are the same symptoms for many other diseases such as always tired, not much energy or desire to do things, lack of appetite and the other forms of arthritis. The symptoms could also be low iron, or thyroid problem. If you have RA, you are often very tired.

Once a person is older, I am not going to say how old, we develop the morning stiffness. When you step out of bed, your feet ache, your neck hurts from maybe not moving around enough in your sleep. If this pain last an hour or longer, you should get it checked for RA. Other symptoms are swollen knuckles, and lumps that have formed under the skin, and the thinning of your bones.

Is it possible to avoid getting RA? Although I cannot guarantee it, but omega 3 has shown remarkable results in improving or avoiding the development of rheumatoid arthritis.

Researches have been conducted on omega 3 to help improve RA. It has been found that consuming sufficient amount of omega 3 fatty acids or getting it in the form of a gel tab can help out patients who have rheumatoid arthritis. Eating fatty fish didn't seem to offer the same benefits as taking fish oil in in the form of gel tabs. It could be because ensuring that you consume sufficient omega 3 from the fish is not as simple as taking a gel tab to ensure that you are getting enough omega 3 in your diet. Eating fish is helpful, it does help in dealing with the swelling of tissues, and many other diseases that omega 3 can be helpful in.

We need to keep our omega 6 foods at a minimum and work more omega 3 into our diets. Adding food items such as walnuts, chia seeds, to our salads is a simple and natural way to get the daily dosage of omega 3.

Find your easiest way to include this wonder food into your diet. Keep the diseases at bay with omega 3. If you are one of the lucky ones, you will live a longer and happier life with it.
