When looking to go on a long walk, rock climbing or going for a stroll up a hill you want to be prepared for whatever the weather may be. Of course we always want to be aware of the weather, but you certainly do not want to get stuck without something waterproof when half way up a hill! Before you make your trip to go off on a walk you will want to think about the attire you choose, picking out waterproofs can be tricky. You usually end up finding something that is fleeced and warm on the inside yet protects you very little from the rain. Or the opposite of finding a great material on the outside yet it is very thin so does not keep you warm and insulated.

You need to have a slippery surface on the outside of the jacket so the water can run off quickly and not sink in and make you feel cold and wet, even more so than you probably already do! Having a thick inside will help to keep this feeling at bay also. The best materials to look for are wool and cotton as they are natural materials that are known for their quality. The cotton will provide comfort and the wool will provide a thick warm coating between you and the outer layer of your jacket. You can even buy womens jackets in a rainbow range of colours. Choose from bright yellows and oranges that you can be seen anywhere from, to subtle navy blues and browns which are the perfect practical choice when going on a muddy walk.
