subject: Top Exercises For Getting Abs [print this page]

When it comes to getting rock-hard abs, I often write to fitness trainers about what are the best exercises for getting rock-hard abs Whilst the feedback I receive does differ in some ways, most fitness trainers are in agreement that there is no "phenominal ab machine" that will going to give you 6 Pack Abs the short time that they advertise. The problem is that most people with excess stomach fat looking to try to uncover their abs are searching for some "miracle 6 Pack Ab workout" that is going to slash the fat off their abs in no time.

You actually do not lose stomach fat by doing ab exercises.

So we should STOP focusing most of your time and effort on stomach exercises and abs workouts to try to flatten your stomach and bring out rock-hard abs. This is simply wasting your time from doing the proper exercise programs that will actually burn your body fat for good.

Full body work-outs or exercises are the best for losing abdominal fat and would include would include various forms of squats, walking lunges, hill sprinting, deadlifts, clean & presses, snatches, swings, presses and pulls, mountain climbers and jumping exercises.

Instead of doing ab exercises directly targeting the waist-line, I have been focusing on undertaking a higher proportion of these full body exercises in my exercise routine. I have increased my metabolism as a result of combining these full body exercises into my workout. This has improved my fat burn rate around my stomach to the point I am starting to notice the outline of a 6 pack in the mirror.

I am still undertaking exercises that are directly target the abdominals and core, but this is only a small proportion of my routine.

All my research together with my own weight loss results recommend that your time is better spent focusing on the full body exercises because it will stimulate the highest hormonal and metabolic changes within the body. The indirect benefit of using a full body work-out or exercise routine is that you are working your full mid-section section of your body without specifically targeting the stomach area.

Also bear in mind that a nutritional diet is just as crucial for fat burn necessary to get rock-hard abdominals. If you do not have a nutritional diet, then regardless of how hard you work-out, you will never get rid of the stomach fat hiding your washboard abs.

The diet should comprise of healthy unrefined natural foods. It is crucial to manage blood sugar to help restore insulin sensitivity through the right nutrition. This means greatly reducing sugars and refined starches in your diet, and focusing more of your diet on healthy fats (such as avocados, nuts, seeds, coconut fat, olive oil, free-range eggs, fatty fish and fish oils, etc.), as well as increasing protein and fiber intake.

In summary, we should stop wasting so much of your time focusing on stomach exercises such as sit-ups and crunches in our determination to get rock-hard abs. Instead focus our attention on high intensity complete body work-out and stick to a healthy diet full of natural whole foods, and we are well on our way of achieving our elusive 6 pack abs goal.
