subject: Training With Quality Gym Equipment [print this page]

A treadmill can be one of the most expensive additions to your collection of fitness equipment and is often one of the staples of any good cardio-vascular workout. So when you are contemplating investing in a high-quality treadmill, you need to take time to think about what you want and the trade off between cost and quality. Treadmills from the likes of Nordic Track, Reebok and Horizon all provide excellent investment choices, but there are dozens of brands available that also provide a high level of reliability and performance.

As a first step, it is useful to make a list of all the features you want and then strike out any that you could compromise on. If you are a regular gym bunny, you will probably have a good idea of the features you most often use. If you are new to the running world and are not sure what is available, try to speak to a seasoned gym instructor to get their view. They will hopefully not only have a good overview of what is available, but will be able to separate what is an essential feature to something that is more of a gimmick. To a large extent, what you get will be dictated by your budget and it"s worth bearing in mind that you"ll be better off foregoing some of the features you might want and saving some money so that you can afford a better make of treadmill. If not, you may find that you have got a lot of bells and whistles on a machine that is got a short lifespan. Sorting the wheat from the chaff can be difficult when you haven"t come across some of the sports brand names that dominate this area of the fitness market, so if you are unsure, speak to a sports professional or go online and search for reviews. Companies such as Reebok and Nordic Track can easily be contacted from the website and any questions you might have can often be answered directly from the sales people.

The advantage of buying online is that you can often find prices a lot less than on the High Street. The major disadvantage of course, is that you cannot try before you buy. Treadmills vary widely, so it is best, wherever possible, to find somewhere you can try it out before committing to purchasing it. You will also want to think about the machine"s dimensions and weight. Nordic Track, for example, offers a number of folding machines which are ideal if you have limited space.
