subject: Conversation Topics For A Class Reunion [print this page]

When going to your high school class reunion, there are a lot of reasons we tend to become nervous about it. We may need some conversational help so that we know what to say to our old high school peers. Don't worry too much about it, because conversation tends to flow naturally, but we will help it become much easier.

We are going to go over a few different things that you can talk to with your old class mates when you get the chance. We are going to provide tips that truly show how interesting you can be as well as making the event more interesting in general.

The first thing to remember is that you really need to avoid topics that involve politics and religion. There are many people that are out there and that means that there are several takes on religion.

If you want to avoid unnecessary drama, then political and religious conversation needs to be avoided. That and personal, insensitive questions need to be avoided, as well.

There are several pretty easy topics you could bring up in conversation. If you pick a really good one, you could certainly break the ice properly. Make it less awkward by appealing to their interests. Ask them what they went to college for. Ask them what their favorite experiences were in college. This is just the beginning.

Why not ask them about their families or their respective partners? How did they meet them? How did they propose? How many kids do they have? Tell stories about your own and they will inevitably share their own. Just make sure to keep it on an even playing field, which means that you shouldn't just make it all about you.

Other topics could include traveling, vacations, and where they are in their careers. You could talk about the places you would like to visit one of these days. Or ask them about the most intriguing people that they know in their lives, their mentors, and their best friends, whatever. Pick a topic that people would be most interested in talking about. Most people are completely into talking about all of their favorite things, which includes these topics. Take the time to truly learn about what has happened over the years to make them who they are right in that moment. It is pretty interesting what people go through to make them who they are in the end.

Other topics could be about the best experiences people have had in their lives. There are good times and there are bad times, but it is best to concentrate on the best times. It is great to ask them about their spouses, how they met, and how amazing they are. People love gushing about the love of their life, so it makes sense that a conversation could really thrive on for a while. It is a lighthearted and fun approach to conversation.

Your high school class reunion is a chance to really reconnect with the people you went to school with. While it is not completely comfortable (nerves, bad blood), it should be comfortable for you and those you interact with. With the greatest topics, you should be armed enough to have things to talk about that aren't boring.
