subject: Most People With Herpes Can Still Have A Healthy Dating Life And Great Sex Life [print this page]

FACT - One in five people in America have genital herpes. And because the symptoms are often minimal and infrequent, at least 80% of these people don't even know they have it. Don't believe it? You can Google this and confirm it in five minutes or less. By the way, that also means 1 in 4 people right here on this web site also have genital herpes (possibly including YOU)!

If you're aware that you have genital herpes, it's unfortunate, but you're a step ahead of the game. If you haven't specifically been tested for it, or don't know if you have it, YOU NEED TO GET TESTED. Many people are spreading this condition without even being aware that they have it.

THE BAD

If you're aware that you have genital herpes (HSV2), you already know how it can be an emotional & frustrating thing to live with. There are two main drawbacks - 1) having a harder time dating because you have to tell potential partners about your condition and some of them will reject you for it, and 2) Having to deal with anywhere from 1 to 5 "breakouts" a year, in which you get small blisters on or around the affected areas for up to two weeks before they heal. You may now have to take an anti-viral prescription medicine daily, or only when you have a breakout (your choice). Many responsible H-daters will combine consistent condom use with their prescriptions drugs to help prevent spreading herpes to others. It just means you have to be even more responsible (not a huge deal really).

THE GOOD

Having genital herpes doesn't make you any less than the great person you are. It's not life threatening. The breakouts are usually concealed to your private areas, so nobody usually knows you have it unless you tell them (or pass it along to them). Even with herpes, most people can still have a healthy dating life and a great sex life. You can expect a bit more of a challenge in finding good matches for dating, but not to worry, there are dating web sites similar Eharmony, Match, etc that are just for people with conditions like herpes. We encourage you to register on these sites and use them to find dates, boyfriends, girlfriends, or whatever it is you're looking for. You can sign up for free, but you'll have a much better experience being a paid member of these sites, so keep that in mind (it doesn't cost much).

THE WEB SITES

By using these sites, you remove the pressure of having to tell potential dates that you have herpes, because they have it too. The sites are full of beautiful, smart, classy, professional people just like yourself. The only difference is that somewhere in life the people on these sites were unlucky enough to get herpes (spread from someone else of course). These sites need more people to sign up so we all have even more dating options in various cities. We need you!!!

Three MOST POPULAR SITES

SingleHerpes.com

H-Date.net

BlackPozDating.net

Note: H-Date.net has some people listed as having HIV or AIDS, but the majority of the site is people with only herpes (HSV2). These are both great sites for H-daters.

A NOTE ABOUT PICTURES:

No doubt many of you will not feel comfortable posting pictures on these sites. But just like any other dating site, you'll get 10 times more attention if you have a picture. If you're not using a normal picture, try taking a good pic that shows how good-looking you are without showing enough of your face to be identified. Then send pics to other individuals as you get to know them and feel comfortable doing so. Or if you don't care, just post your regular pics.
