James Lumbers is one of Canada's most respected and renowned artist.Lumbers nostalgic paintings of Canada's past, inspiring portraits, wilderness lanscapes and his celebrated ghost paintings of the past and present can be found in private art and giclee collections around the planet. Born in Toronto in 1929, and a graduate of the Ontario College of Art, James Lumbers worked an expedition in the northern part of Canada. The encounter changed his existence. Lumbers has build a reputation and a following for his "moments in time collections", depending on ghost images, Lumbers intrically blends reflections of the past into renditions of the current to create master pieces that prevoke the imagination of easier times long gone. The painter has appeared on numorous radio and TV shows and exhibitions in several countries. James Lumbers is recognized across the world as an artist of mementos, he's most well-known for his famous ghosting effects that all his collectors and enthusiasts are familiar with which began in 1976 on a summer afternoon.

Art collectors and fans around the world have cherished and admired James Lumbers expertise to develop a strong sense of history depicted in much of his collector giclees. Lumbers says: "We are products of our memories and traditions. We must fight in our own way to preserve what we have."

"Some years ago when doing research for a painting of Wayne Gretzky, his father Walter showed me where Wayne took his first steps on a rink in their backyard.There was no acclaim at that time, just a little boy who loved to skate. The same was true for Gordie Howe as I discovered when doing research for his portrait. Their greatness and that of others came through love and devotion for the game." whispers James Lumbers a number of years ago.

These experiences helped produce the concept of doing a collection of six paintings representing young people and their ambitions of aspiring to one of the original six teams in the NHL and representing their respective olympic hockey team; to play for teams like Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, Detroit red Wings, New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks and Canada's olympic hockey team. James Lumbers clearly believes that things are doable if you put enough attempt into something and we must be reminded to never stop dreaming and hoping that things are attainable.

At a point in time when ever-increasing rivalry is reaching for consumer's cash, "The History of Hockey Collection" signed & numbered giclees are in soaring demand. Only five of a series of six prints have been created by James Lumbers and the final collector giclee will be released sometime in 2013.

The fifth and latest collector print from "The History of Hockey Collection" by Lumbers is "The Olympic Gold." This newest collector print relfects on Sidney Crosby's Olympic Goal for team Canada against team USA.
