subject: The Best Of Madrid [print this page] Madrid has always been the city that attracted me the most. Well in fact not only Madrid, the whole country probably is really attractive to me. Spain seems to be the most exciting country. Even though I have never been there I have such a feeling.
Spain has always attracted me thanks to its numerous carnivals, fiestas, performances and numerous events. Spaniards seem to know exactly how to enjoy every second of their lives, Tomatina festival for example. How do they manage to gather such a huge crowd of people and make them throw tomatoes in each other? Spanish people seem to be real pros in organizing such huge events.
Among other traditions that have always surprised me is their traditions of bullfighting. There are a lot of protests against it, but still it is an inevitable part of the countrys culture and tradition. Even though it may seem cruel to the majority of people Spaniards do understand it in a bit different way. And no matter what as if I am not mistaken the bullfights are prohibited in Barcelona, but in Madrid they are still held. The most popular venue for bullfights is Plaza de Torros de Las Ventas. It is the biggest arena in Madrid and probably is the biggest one in the whole country. It is a very dangerous and cruel sport to my mind. But when in Madrid Im sure I would like to go to the bullfight, because I guess it is still worth seeing. At least the arena itself is worth seeing for sure. It is one of the most legendary arenas for bullfights. The world-famous Australian hard rock band AC/DC once performed on its stage. The concert was really awesome. There was such a huge crowd of people and the band itself says that it was one of their best concerts. I just wish we really had time machine to be able to see such great events with our own eyes.
Besides catching a bullfight and one of the Spains most famous festivals I would also like to try Spanish cuisine in one of the restaurants in Madrid. Ive been told that there are a lot of nice bars, cafes and restaurants in Madrid where you can enjoy delicious food. Besides that bars in Madrid are also great places for catching a Flamenco show. They can be both planned and improvised and the bars are also one of the places for meeting new friends in foreign countries.
