subject: Hair Styles From Prada In 2012 [print this page]

Every fashion designers dream is to rock the runways and steal the shows with their styles. Once upon a time, this may have just involved the stunning outfits, however as time has gone on, the perfect look has been found to incorporate not only the clothes but the matching accessories, and most importantly, the hair. Never one to be behind in any stakes, Prada upped their game when it came to having the show stopping hairstyles, especially in their 2012 catwalks.

Milan fashion week saw Prada embrace quite a simple style, adopting a more retro look, with neat curls, teamed with slicked back locks. This matched the pretty skirts that the models were wearing, but using retro hair styles move the illusion of sweet at stylish to deliberately messy, relying on a lot of styling products and clips. While sometimes this can be a total disaster, this is never the case for the Italian designer.

One of the most celebrated hair styles to come out of 2011 was the dip dye. Sported by stars ranging from Nicki Minaj to Nicola Roberts, the dip-dye style can be adjusted in a variety of ways to suit everyone. This was no challenge for Prada leave it the Miuccia Prada to take a more conventional style and add that edgy twist to create that perfect look. Prada made the statement of the century at another Milan catwalk, when models stepped out with a two-tone, poker straight hairstyle. With locks reaching the small of the back and flat ironed, hair extensions were used to create emphasis on the extremity of the style, with dark blue undertones to a platinum blonde top. This look was then mirrored by Jean Paul Gaultier, who reversed the style, with natural hair, flame red undertones to another bleach blonde base.

Prada unleashed their 2012 Resort collection with a very different approach to that used on the catwalks. This time, hair grips and lots of styling products were used to create a loose beehive style. The Marge Simpson inspired buns were worn at an angle on the head and in more toned down colours than those used in the dip dye catwalks. Prada used hair pieces to create extra volume, and finished the dusty brown looks with a slim streak of blonde. This created the perfect frame to the exotic clothing sported by models in the photos, and created the perfect proportion of hair style glamour to chic clothing.
