Indigestion is merely an upset stomach and is a very frequent problem in men, women and kids now a day. In medical language it is called as dyspepsia. It is a medical condition which is characterized by abdominal pain, abdominal fullness and a feeling of a full stomach even before eating anything. It can also give rise to other common medical ailments like nausea, bloating, belching etc. In severe cases indigestion causes gastro esophageal disorder or gastritis and very minimally it may be the cause root cause of a peptic ulcer disease leading to cancer. Indigestion is common because of a lot of reasons like irregular eating and sleeping habits, faulty digestive tract and unhealthy food. Usually an upset stomach can be treated easily and it rarely happens that a person develops some serious ailments because of dyspepsia.

Causes And Symptom Of Indigestion

Indigestion is cause due to a lot of reasons and its symptoms are usually recognizable. The characteristic typical symptoms of dyspepsia include abdominal pain, trouble, gas problems, bloating, fullness, palpitation etc. Pain is usually worsened with exertion and one may also face nausea and perspiration. An acidic taste in the mouth is also one sign of an upset stomach. Also, vomiting, burning sensation in stomach or upper abdomen and heart burn can be expected. Indigestion is caused due to many factors namely diseases, medicines and life styles. If one is suffering from diseases like Ulcer, Gerd, Stomach Cancer, IBS, stomach infection, Thyroid disorder it is common to expect an upset stomach and dyspepsia. For those who are put on medication and commonly take aspirin, estrogen, steroid and thyroid medicines, a dull, throbbing or burning pain in the stomach is nothing new. Mostly indigestion is cause due to eating too much, eating too fast, eating high fat food or eating during stressful situation. Drinking and smoking are also causes of indigestion as they disturb the digestive system. Stress and fatigue are also common these days among the working population which is a cause for indigestion.

Treatment And Cure

Usually fasting for one day can easily cure a simple indigestion problem that occurs due to unhealthy food. Fruits, juices, boiled mushy vegetables also help overcoming the problem if it persists for a longer duration. Eating less spicy food which can be easily digested and broken down is recommended. Buttermilk and water help a lot. Taking large amounts of fluid can help you feel better. Also with treatment it is important to take some necessary precautions. Sleeping right after lunch or dinner is highly no advised since it increases the chances of indigestion. Food is to be properly cooked and eaten slowly without rushing in. Take your time to chew the food and break it down into as small pieces by chewing as you can. Physical exercise helps digesting the food a great deal so never forget to include some physical activity in your daily routine Also, staying up till late night and suffering from mental stress and anxiety is a cause of indigestion and has to be avoided at any cost to live a healthy life.
