FINAL FANTASY developed by Squaresoft company was one of the first multiplatform role-playing games and the first installation of the franchise known as. Final Fantasy. What some consider one of the most important titles ever FINAL FANTASY has withstood the test of time. It was first released on the NES back in 1987 and has since been released on multiple Nintendo, Sony, and phone apps. The first and still ever popular 8-bit characters have been the base structure of almost every Final Fantasy title to come after.

FINAL FANTASY II also made by Squaresoft was for the famicom and had alot of the key elements in the future Final Fantasy games. Introduced in 1988 this was the first Final Fantasy game to introduce chocobos and the recurring character Cid. It also eliminated the experience point way of leveling and instead introduced the way of activity-based progression.

FINAL FANTASY III is the first game to introduce the job system in the series for which the Final Fantasy genre has become known for. You control four characters which start out as one job class and then later they become interchangeable. It is also the first time the abilities steal, jump, and summon are introduced.

FINAL FANTASY IV (1991) is regarded as a landmark and the first major RPG of the series. It is considered to be one of the first role-playing games to feature an in depth, involving plot, and is thought to have pioneered the idea of dramatic story telling in an RPG. This game was the first in the series to allow the player to control up to five characters in your party; while previous games had limited the party to four. It also marks the first appearance of Squares Active Time Battle (ATB) system, which differed from the turn-based designs of previous RPGs. The ATB system centers on the player inputting orders for the characters in real time during battles.

FINAL FANTASY V (1992) has been celebrated by fans for the greatly expanded job system which allows even more freedom of customization than any other Final Fantasy title before it. FINAL FANTASY V also notes the first time that the Blue mage, Time mage, and Mime job classes appear.

FINAL FANTASY Versus XIII ExtrasFINAL FANTASY VI was released for the SNES in 1994. FINAL FANTASY VI is in my opinion and others to be considered one of the greatest games of all time. This game features one of the only villains (Kefka) that can be considered to actually have succeeded in his goal. It also had the first appearance of the first vision of the popular Limit Break command.

FINAL FANTASY Versus XIII Extras Halfway There

We are Halfway through and hope you are enjoying a nostalgia moment if not the first time with this recap on a history of Final Fantasy with FINAL FANTASY Versus XIII Extras. Im sure all you fan boys know what is next so without further delay next up.

FINAL FANTASY VII (1997) was the first game in the Final Fantasy genre to use 3D graphics and to be released on the playstation marking yet another technological era in gaming. FINAL FANTASY VII is the best-selling title in the series with almost 10 million copies sold worldwide. This is another title to be considered the best of all time and is for sure in the top 3 games of the Final Fantasy series.

FINAL FANTASY VIII released in 1999 saw the first example of consistently use realistically proportioned characters. It had a different leveling system that many fans loved and others hated by having a set amount of experience points from level to level. As part of the game theme various designs were given to its locations using the style of internationally familiar places, while also maintaining a fantasy atmosphere. Inspiration ranged from ancient Egyptian and Greek architecture, to the city of Paris, France, to an idealized futuristic European society.

FINAL FANTASY IX was developed to be more of a fantasy oriented setting compared to the latter two playstation predecessors with an in depth character development system that was meant to suck you in. The setting is inspired by Norse and Northern European mythology. With a less serious point of view this game was meant to really involve the player and make you feel the emotion of the characters and involve you in the story. It definitely brought a felling of nostalgia back from some of the original title in the series.

FINAL FANTASY X is another first in the Final Fantasy timeline to introduce voice acting. Originally released for the PS2 in 2001 it marks the transition from entirely pre-rendered backdrops to fully three-dimensional areas. The influence was been identified as South Pacific, Thailand, and Japan as a major importance on the cultural and geographic design of the main city of Spira. FINAL FANTASY X also involved motion capture and skeletal animation technology to fit the lip movement with the voice acting.

FINAL FANTASY XI also known as Final Fantasy XI Online, is a MMORPG (massive multiplayer online role playing game). First released for the PS2 in 2002 by Squaresoft and then later for windows (PC) in 2003 and then Xbox 360 and credited to be the first cross platform MMORPG. The windows release also marks the merger of Squaresoft and Enix to make Square Enix. FINAL FANTASY XI differs from other previous Final Fantasy titles in that the battles fought are all real time and no random encounters. Players are also able to customize their avatars race, gender, body size, hair color, face, and job class anyway they chose. There are currently 20 different jobs and it still has a strong user base even today after nearly 10 years.

FINAL FANTASY XII was the last game in the Final Fantasy series to be released exclusively to the playstation platform. Introduced are several innovations such as: battles occur without transition to a separate screen(loading to a different screen), a customizable skill system known as gambit to control the actions of npcs (non player character), and an experience point like system that allows you to equip different equipment and armor. The inspiration for the gambit system was derived from american football where each member of the team has a specific job to do. The collectors edition included the original game packaged in a metallic case along with a special bonus disc, which contains FINAL FANTASY XII developer interviews, an art gallery, U.S. and Japanese trailers, and a featurette entitled History of Final Fantasy, which gave a brief overview of most released and upcoming Final Fantasy games.

FINAL FANTASY Versus XIII Extras FINAL FANTASY XIII is yet another mark in the console history books where it is the first Final Fantasy title to be released to the PS3. Much like the last game it allows you to customize most everything you can equip and do in battle. FINAL FANTASY XIII is the flagship of the Fabula Nova Crystallis collection upon later will be released are FINAL FANTASY XIII-2, FINAL FANTASY Versus XIII, and FINAL FANTASY Type-0. The setting of this game was intended by the art team to be reminiscent of the United States. It has been stated that this is the fastest selling Final Fantasy title ever with over 1 million copies sold on the first day.
