Choosing the right candidate for a particular role has never been an easy task for an HR Manager. Each organization has a different process. However, no manager can avoid going through stacks of resumes, conducting phone and personal interviews, evaluating the candidates skills and finally using their judgment to make a hiring decision. In spite of this long process, there is still no guarantee that the candidate is best suited for the role offered.

While there can be no guarantee that the candidate being hired is the best fit, HR managers can mitigate these risks by making the recruit undergo the DiSC Self Assessment Test. This is a type of personality test, which will identify his key traits and behavioral characteristics that may not be apparent in the interview process. By communicating a candidates strengths and weakness to the manager, it helps him decide whether the particular candidate is suitable for the role and a cultural fit in the organization.

The DiSC Self Assessment Test will classify the candidate into one of the following personality traits:

Dominance - strong willed people who like to take charge of every situation

Influence flourish in teams and social gatherings

Steadiness people who dont like to be in the spotlight and work in a consistent manner

Conscientiousness Sticklers for quality. They work in a very methodical way, constantly ensuring that the quality is of a high standard

The test will identify the prospective candidates dominant trait. Thus, managers will be able to compare these results along with the qualities required for the role. Besides, it will also help managers understand a new recruits training and development needs.

Apart from personality tests, there a host of other DiSC tests which HR managers can make employees undergo in order to improve their skills. To illustrate, lets take an example with the Sales Personality Test.

In case a candidate has a strong Dominant personality, it would mean that the individual is result oriented. Such a sales person will have a skeptical nature and would assume the same for the customer too. Besides, he would ensure that the customer is made aware of his competency to handle the business. Being fast paced, these active individuals are goal-oriented with a no-nonsense way of dealing with things and put results on top of their priority list.

Having received this insight into an individuals character, managers can accordingly create a training program which will develop their skills and help them in their growth. Not only would it boost employee morale, but also sales!
