subject: Spring Cleaning And Redecoration Of Furniture [print this page]

Spring is a time for rebirth, regrowth and cleaning! Chances are your home has become cluttered with unwanted holiday gifts and furniture that is just barely holding together. Now is your chance to clean, redecorate and rejuvenate your home. Take advantage of this once a year opportunity.

The best way to get organized for spring cleaning is by grouping things into 4 categories. Category one we call upgrades. These are items that you need, say your TV or couch, but need to be replaced. Category two is items that need to be thrown out. These are items that are not only worn but don't need to be replaced. Items like storage containers that have been emptied for spring cleaning fall into this category. Category three is goods to donate -all the new and gently used items that you have rarely used over the years. Chances are this category contains a lot of well-intentioned, but ultimately useless, gifts. Lastly you have your items destined for the dust bin, things in bad shape that are also useless. My old laptop certainly falls into that category. Make sure that you dump items appropriately, so don't trash batteries and other things that contain hazardous chemical agents.

Now that the clutter is gone it's time to add some things. Keep in mind that you are going to acquire items as time passes so do not rush out to a furniture store and fill every available inch of space in your apartment. Try to stick to items you explicitly got rid of with the goal of replacing. Do not rule out the possibility of getting a few new items at a furniture store but do not go wild either.

If you have your heart set on a redecoration project you can roll that into your spring cleaning. Cruise local furniture stores for items you want to buy and arrange your cleaning accordingly. Think of how you will shift things around and what you will get rid of to accommodate your new furnishings. By choosing the items beforehand and then fitting them into your home you can stop yourself from accidentally buying something only to find you have no room for it.

Chances are bed furniture stores have items you want but did not know existed, so asses all options before finalizing any changes. You can also go online to do your scouting as most furniture stores in your area have websites.
