subject: Choosing The Right North Face And Jansport Backpacks [print this page]

Backpacks are quite a useful itemBackpacks are quite a useful item. They are not just used by children and students looking for an easy solution to their textbook carrying woes. Backpacks are far more versatile than that. But what backpack should you be choosing? The needs of a hiker are very different from someone taking a weekend trip and is in need of storage for his clothing. Thankfully there is a backpack to suit each need.

First one must determine what you will be using it for. The two biggest "classes" of backpacks are ones for serious hikers and campers and pretty much any other use. Campers and hikers use backpacks much different from what you used to tote around in school. These packs are much larger, highly durable, and very supportive so as not to hurt your back. A camper's pack is sold at sporting goods stores. If this is what you need, first consider size. The size can be determined by the length of the trip. A one or two night trip should have a capacity of 20-50 liters. Two to three nights requires 50-60, two to five nights 60-80, and anything longer will be over 80 liters. Keep in mind that expert packers can learn to survive longer with little in the pack. Plus, you don't want to carry an extremely heavy bag around depending on what you are doing.

The "everyone else" category is pretty broad. People can have a variety of reasons for needing a typical everyday backpack, such as for school, for light travel, equipment, or to carry items to work. Lighter, cheaper backpacks include brands like Jansport backpacks and the North Face. But within this category, there are still plenty of options. The North Face makes several backpacks that are more rugged and durable, but they're not like the larger hiker backpacks you see at a sporting goods store. The North Face backpacks will do just fine for your weekend camping out in the woods with the rest of your supplies in the car parked next to you. Look for waterproof backpacks that can withstand the elements.

If you're the type of person who wants a bag to take to work or as your carry-on, choose a brand like Jansport. They are a popular choice among students and for those who just need a lightweight, everyday backpack. They are very affordable but they are also quite durable. And not to mention stylish.

Backpacks are a versatile accessory, one that everyone should own. They make carrying items a breeze without killing your arms. Choose the right brand for the job and pack efficiently.
