Accommodation is graded in three classifications and public areas include dinning cars, lounge, smoker's lounge and an observation car bring up the rear. There are also coaches to house the required staff, kitchens and other amenities. The train coaches and locomotives have all been restored to their former old fashioned glory. However every mod con one may expect to find in a 5-star establishment has been incorporated. Old world charm is the only word to describe the wood paneled dining cars. Smart casual clothes are worn in the dining car during the day, however at night passengers are requested to wear elegant evening dress.

Both trains have modified observation coaches to allow guests to taken in the splendid ever changing panoramic landscape. Windows have been enlarged and specially constructed viewing balconies added. These coaches are furnished for comfortable viewing.

Accommodation is available in three categories. Royal Suites have en suites with Victorian baths and shower stalls. The De Luxe and Pullman compartments also offer en suite with showers. Each compartment is well planned and beautifully furnished.

The Pullman compartments decorated in a bed-sitter style are normally a first preference for many passengers. Both the Royal and De Luxe compartments comprise a separate bedroom and lounge. Fabrics and furniture are top of the range and are the epitome of gracious living. Compartments are furnished with desk writing surfaces, commodity fridge, private safes and room service throughout the day and night.

Owning their own station and maintenance yard has enabled Rovos Rail to ensure their luxury train Africa trips are unique. Private company functions and weddings can be hosted in the station house building. People wishing to privately charter these trains have the option of either hiring a 44 or 72 passenger train.
