subject: Choosing A New Kitchen Whilst Remaining Within Budget [print this page]

After having purchased a new house, we eventually got the keys. It took a lot longer than we had thought and our budget for a new kitchen took a big hit, as we had to stay in a hotel whilst we waited. After a costly week and a half and a bill in excess of four hundred quid, not to mention how much we paid in food and restaurant bills. We finally walked in to our new home. We had visited many times before and we were well aware of what needed to be done, such as a lick of paint in every room and a whole new kitchen. When the house was furnished it looked a lot better and we were taken aback, by how much extra work it was going to take for us to move in. The situation was worsened by the fact our budget was stretched to the limit by the hotel and constant eating out.

We had to come up with an action plan, that not only got us out of the hotel but in to the house. We decided to paint two rooms one being the bedroom so we have some where to sleep and the second being the large second bedroom, that could house all our furniture that was in some rather expensive storage. This way we can protect our budget for our new kitchen and get on with the work, before we start work again in a tad less than two weeks.

With the two rooms painted we moved in, in record time. Our attentions were fixed on finding a new kitchen with a lot less money, we had hoped to spend. We would not be deterred as we normally find what we are looking for, why should this be any different. We visited a couple of big stores without any luck. I suggested my wife continues the search, and I would return home and demolish the old kitchen as once again the skip for the rubbish, was eating away at our tighter than tight budget. I will make way for the new kitchen, whilst I leave my wife to do what she does best and that is shop and get a bargain.

It was not long at all, when she walked through the door donning a big smile. She had not only found a new kitchen, she had also secured free fitting and it was to happen in less than twenty four hours. She showed me the pictures she took with her phone, it was stunning to say the least. Our new kitchen was a bespoke and wooden. The treated Oak was oiled and rich in texture and will look stunning in our new home. We even had a little cash left over for the breakfast stools to compliment the breakfast bar that came with the new kitchen.

As promised, in a tad over twenty hours they arrived to fit our new kitchen.
