subject: Alpha And Omega: An Animation Film That Scores Full Marks In Entertainment! [print this page] Television watching has become much more fun for me after I subscribed for the CenturyLink Deals. Being a movie buff, I have quite a range of movie channels now to choose from. Recently I saw quite an interesting movie: Alpha and Omega. It is an animation movie that came out in 3D in the year 2010. The story is about wolves, which is unusual and I guess the first movie that is exclusively on wolves. The movie can be called a romance comedy animation film. When we think about animation the first ones that come in to our mind are dogs, cats, elephants, etc. but wolves would be one of the last options, but after seeing this movie I realized that anything be it an animal or an object can be animated.
The plot of the movie can be called as atypical romance film. Two wolves, Kate and Humphrey live in Japer National Park but are from two different social orders. Kate is a daughter of the alpha males leader Winston and his mate Eve. Humphrey is an Omega wolf who comes in the lowest order of wolves. Both of them are completely opposite by character. While Kate being an alpha wolf herself takes her duties to her heart and is serious by nature. Humphrey is an easy to go wolf who loves to spend his day by enjoying with his friends and fooling around. He is also known as peacemaker because of his affable nature towards others. In spite of the vast differences in class, Humphrey falls in love with Kate. This movie reminded me of the differences in class that we have in our society!
The movie starts with Kate going to the alpha school and returning as fully trained Alpha making her parents proud. When Kate goes on her first hunt, it gets interrupted with two members from the Eastern pack entering the Western territory. The two packs are on a bitter rivalry, to ensure peace between the two packs Kate is asked to marry the other packs leaders son: Garth. Kate agrees out of the duty and responsibility that she feels for the pack. When Humphrey and Kate meet later they are abducted to a different area to repopulate the species. When Tony and Winston realize that Kate has gone missing, tension brews within the two packs. They mutually agree that if Kate does not return within the full moon day, then they would declare war. In the meanwhile Kates sister Lily has a secret crush on Garth and they start to bond with one another. The rest of the story is whether Kate returns to the pack before full moon day and who she marries in the end.
The movie is a typical entertainment film and a happily-ever-after story. There are no twists and it is a very feel good film. One of my favorite scenes is where Humphrey and Kate are spinning around and having fun. The dialogue goes like:
Humphrey: What are you doing up here?
Kate: I'm practice-hunting for our lunch.
Humphrey: Oh, good. 'Cause I'm about to lose mine.
[He is about to throw up]
Kate: [Worried] You are?! [Disgusted] Ew!
Humphrey: I'll try to swallow it.
[He manages to swallow it]
The scenes where Humphreys eye-balling Kate is really cute and the romance scenes are taken quite well. It is not a movie that everybody would like, but can be considered as one of the films that can be seen when you are really down. It makes you feel good after watching the film. The movie has been directed by Anthony Bell and Ben Gluck. The starring of voices is Justin Long for Humphrey and Hayden Panettiere for Kate.
