subject: It All Got Started With Brown Cypress Mulch! Grabbing Back Your Momentum. [print this page]

It's not very often; you start a motivational article talking about mulch. Back in March of 2012, I needed black mulch for my for my flower beds, in front of the house, because they looked terrible and unkempt for 1000 days.

We got mulch before and it cost us $350 for 10 cubic yards. That's why I kept putting off "till next year". We did not have it. Then the statements started coming in, from the HOA homeowner association, due to not having "curb appeal". Stating you must keep your yard in good condition, etc.

I knew I had to put mulch down, all the time, but never had the money for it. Suddenly, I got a job, creating a website for someone and received enough cash to grab 4 cubic yards of black cypress mulch. Found out it only cost $160, including delivery. I was thrilled.

Getting back to the motivation part, it was a combination of "successful" events that happened in sequence. Sometimes all it takes is a boost' of big things happing to you to start moving forward.

There were several projects that needed to be finished online and offline. Getting mulch was one of those. Once that project was completed, I was able to gain momentum and finish those other projects.

Here is a list from beginning to end, of gaining so much momentum, you will not be able to stop.

1.Envision Your Project and write it down several places On the refrigerator, on your phone, at work. Post-it notes work fine.

2.Measure the cost. (In my case, it was the mulch) How much?

3.Measure the time it takes you to complete the project, by listing each task time table.

4.Step out in "faith" and take action. What's holding you back? Fear? Money? Resources?

5.Check off each task completed

6.Reward Yourself For Completing The Project (Dinner & Movie)

7.Analyze Your Results and Repeat For Next Project.

Set yourself up for Success, by staying focused and using "bite" size tasks to complete, to build momentum. Do not forget to take breaks to access progress and give yourself rewards when complete.
