subject: Rack City Lyrics | Tyga Lyrics [print this page]

The Rack City lyrics is a single off of Tygas rap/club album Careless World: Rise of the Last King, with DJ Mustard writing and producing. Rack City lyrics were originally featured on his mix tapes Well Done 2. The song features rap and heavy club beats, while the lyrics espouse an extravagant nightclub lifestyle, with no shame or regrets.

Named Michael Stevenson at birth, his performance name Tyga is an acronym for Thank You God Always. His first album No Introduction includes his first hit song Coconut Juice.

The track Deuces, featuring Chris Brown and released off his Fan of a Fan mix tape, got a listing on the Billboard 100 charts and a Grammy nomination. He also toured with the Spring Campus Tour with Kidz in the Hall and Gym Class Heroes.

Tyga later signed onto Young Money Entertainment, Lil Waynes label. There, he recorded his second album Careless World: Rise of the Last King. Featured collaborators include Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Robin Thick, T-Pain, Chris Brown and J. Cole. Since signing on to Young Money, Lil Wayne and Birdman have been Tygas mentors.

The title track of the album came into some controversy when Martin Luther King Jr.s family estate debated the use of one of the Civil Rights leaders speeches mixed within the song. The speech was removed from new releases of the song.

Although Careless World was released to generally positive reviews from music critics, some naysayers criticize the album, particularly Rack City, for its lack of lyrical depth or verbosity.

Tyga addressed this concern in a handful of interviews by saying the song itself doesnt have to have deep meaning or philosophical lyrics; after all, its just a party song, and it wouldnt be as relatable to other partiers if the lyrics were more verbose.

Tyga claims that another song on the album, Kings and Queens, is on the other side of the spectrum, as it explores deeper emotions and philosophies and thus makes up for Rack Citys lack of depth.

Tyga also says that his proudest moment in Careless World is the song Black Crown, which goes into his relationship with his mother.

Rack City made it on the Billboard Hot 100. The song also earned Tyga his first gold and platinum awards after selling over one million downloads.

Tygas songs have also appeared in numerous video games, including Madden 2009 and Need for Speed: Undercover.
