subject: When Does Life Begin? [print this page] When does the soul enter the body? When does the soul enter the body?
Let us go to the Bible for some guidance on this. Take Luke Chapter 1 Verses 26 - 28 In the sixth month of Elizabeth's pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you."
Now this was the moment of Conception of Jesus - and note the Angel said " The Lord is with you." He did not say the Lord is coming in 9 months March 25 - December 25. He did not say the Lord is coming in the first second or third semester. The Angel said, "The Lord is with you." From the moment of His conception, Jesus was with Mary. All of Him - body, blood soul and divinity. And it is the same with us. We are alive as a person from the moment of conception.
So the controversy about when does life begin can be answered quickly using faith and reason and our Judeo Christian roots. Then why do we still debate it? You tell me; for the life of me I cannot see why we are still debating this.
The misinformed think that life begins at birth and as a consequence it is okay to stop that life up until birth. One of the consequences of that thinking is that it does not stop there. For example, in Europe some have now proposed that you can kill a child up to 10 days after their birth. I suppose they will want to eventually say that the state can kill anyone for any reason at any time, if they stay in power long enough.
That is why we must go back to our Declaration of Independence and remember that the right to life comes from God and no one can take that right away from us from conception to natural death and if you give in one inch some will take it all away from us.
Now you understand why some Christians are refusing to participate in anything that stops life from the moment of conception. It is because if life begins at conception then, it must be protected from conception!
Thought for this week - Thank God for all the little babies.
