All necessary blood and radiological investigations should be done including blood group testing, LAI (Liver Attenuation Index), Hematology, biochemistry, serologies. Donors must have a compatible blood group with the recipient. Costly Imaging studies like triphasic CT and MRCP should be performed only after the basic evaluation completed and accepted. Advanced noninvasive methods like CT Scan computed tomography and MRI magnetic resonance imaging helps a lot in selecting a healthy and suitable living donor. In my experiences with about 600 living donor liver transplants invasive testing like liver biopsy should be performed at last if required in certain case like if LAI < 6 or BMI is more than 30.
