The Kayak Fishing ClassicS announced that the Riverhouse Reef & Grill of Palmetto, Florida will host the Southern Redfish Classic on October 23, 2010.

The Classic will decide who is to be the regular series winner before the National Championship on November 27 & 28 in Tampa. The series has heated up with only 80 points separating the top two anglers in the 10 tournament open series. Third through fifth place is also very close and Southern Redfish Classic will decide the final standings going into the championship.

The Riverhouse Reef & Grill, Southern Redfish Classic is so important at this point in the series because the anglers carry a percentage of their series points into the national. The point's equation is not so great that a newcomer could not win the national, however the points would decide a tie or a very close finish.

This is the first time that the Riverhouse Reef & Grill has hosted a Classic and the excitement is building around it in Palmetto. The Kayak Fishing ClassicS awards over $6,000.00 in Sponsor Gear Prizes at each event and the top six anglers will win a trunk full of fantastic, high quality fishing and kayaking gear. The ClassicS' has two fishing divisions. There is a light tackle division and a fly fishing division. The combined points add up together for individual anglers and this has compelled many of the contestants to pick up the long rod to compete.

Captain Pat Horrigan is a saltwater fly fishing expert and will teach any of the anglers who want to add the tool to their fishing arsenal. In fact, Capt. Pat is one of only 200 IGFA Certified Fly Fishing Guides in the world, so they are learning from one of the very best. "Sometimes the conditions are better for fly fishing and the anglers will catch the target species on fly when light tackle gear won't get the job done. The added points that the anglers receive plays a big part in their total score and it is to their advantage to use all of the tools that the rules allow," said the captain.

However turns out, this is a very important tournament for all of the anglers. With the National Championship just around the corner, there is a lot on the line. All of the information and registration is on the ClassicS website at www.KayakFishingClassicS.com and you should take a look at the who's who list of sponsors that they have. This says a lot for this rapidly growing sport and the Riverhouse Reef & Grill is pleased to be a part of it.
