subject: Wow Heirlooms Help You Quickly Level Your Alts [print this page]

Leveling a toon is fun the first time around as it is an opportunity to see the in-game world and play the quests. The second toon is almost as much fun because it is learning a new character class and the quests that go with it. However, getting subsequent characters up to higher levels can be downright dull. Certainly there is a lot to World of Warcraft, but seeing it over and over again while trying to level another class to raid levels is no fun.

Blizzard acknowledged this by creating items known as WoW heirlooms. These are available to players who have already leveled one character up to the maximum level of 80. Heirlooms are distinguished from other gear with the designation of Bind on Account. Note that this is different from the Bind on Equip designation, which are typically good for a couple of levels, then need to be replaced. Heirloom items scale with the level of the character, which means the same item can be used consistently. As the toon gains experience and levels, so does the item.

Heirlooms also have a stacking effect on any boosts that are on the item. What this means is that if a character has two different items with a 10 percent spell power boost, the stacking effect turns that into a 20 percent boost. The more items worn with the same boost, the more power the player has. Boosts such as this make it easier to power through mobs, gain XP and level quickly. Utilizing a WoW strategy guide in conjunction with heirloom items also helps to get to level 80 in less time than usual.

A viable alternative for those who don't want to spend a lot of time leveling is the WoW Death Knight class. Rolling a death knight character starts the player immediately at level 55, giving the player a shorter road to get to 80. This character may start out high, but the same learning curve applies to it just as if it were a brand new toon at level 1. All of the talent points are at zero, although they are gained quickly by following the quests in the starting area. A WoW strategy guide that has a focus on the death knight helps the player get a grasp on the best way to play this character.

Many people have scoffed at the death knight, much in the same way they went after the paladins for playing in E-Z mode. While this is true to a point, there are still weaknesses to the death knight that are easily exploited by a mob or an opposing player. The player that lets themself think that they are now uber strong gets a quick reality check when having to run back from the graveyard. Learn how to play the character to the best of its strengths and abilities for the best experience on the run up to 80.
