subject: Seo Solutions Tips For Good Press Release [print this page]

You must have observed writers cringing at the idea of writing a press release. If you are one of those, then you need to read this article and remember the tips. You are just about to get a great boost in your confidence about the ability to write easily and smoothly. Press release is merely nothing more than a statement prepared for distribution through the media channels. Its aim is to give information to the journalist that is relevant and useful along with the fact that it is interesting and correct. Just four things to remember: useful, interesting, relevant and correct.

The fact is press release is commonly known as "cookie cutter" in media terminology. Once you get grasp on it, all you would be doing will be filling the gaps, following the set format. There are literally so many requests in a day that nearly all the journalists out there have set some kind of parameters and expectations that must be complied with. It is just to get the press release read, the publishing matter comes afterward. Say that your press release is published as it is, then you are doing a fantastic job, keep writing but if you don't find it then you have surely neglected something.

It is always considered a good practice that you write a press release on your company's letterhead. If that is not possible for the time being then make sure you add the logo of your company and never forget to add clearly at top of your page the name of the company, the web address (i.e. website), location address (postal address) and contact numbers (cellular phone and/or office phone numbers).

Write the PRESS RELEASE in CAPS (all of the alphabets) and align it to the center of the page and under it put the name of the contact person along with the contact numbers. One more thing to remember is that if you want to get it published immediately then you must tell. Write IMMEDIATE RELEASE (all alphabets in CAPS) on the left-hand side margin above the title.

After that you must work on a bit on the headline or title you are giving to your press release. It must be written in bold and aligned in center. Remember, headline is the line which can capture a journalist. If you keep the headline of press release short and bit snappy, it would not only get the journalist but will also force them to read further.

Then you must consider the content to put in the body of the press release. Always start the body with the date and a place for which the press release is intended. Try and address all of the "w"s, i.e. what, who, when, where and why. Make sure in first passage you provide brief details about and in second passage you get in further detail and address questions like who is effected, and why you are worried about it. Moreover, also include a quote by a relevant person; it gives bit personal touch to the press release, which is of course all-time favorites of the journalists. And in last passage summarize it along with the information about your company and how can your company be further contacted.

In case your press release exceeds one page, don't forget to put page numbers on it (generally at upper hand corner of the page). And sometimes you are required to indicate the end of your press release by many journalists with three number signs, i.e. ###.

So, now whenever you have to write remember that all you have to do is to write useful, interesting, relevant and correct information following all the set guidelines by the journalists and you will be as good as anyone can be.
