subject: Simple Wind Turbine For Your Home [print this page]

If you are looking for a simple wind turbine for your home, you are in good company. With electricity prices rising fast, people all over the world are looking into alternate ways of supplying their personal power at home.

If you are looking into alternative forms of energy production, you basically have 3 choices: solar power, geothermal, and wind turbine power. A simple wind turbine will often produce the same amount of energy as a more complicated and expensive wind system, so you don't necessarily need to spend a fortune to get what you need.

There are 2 traditional ways that you can get a simple wind turbine onboard at your house

Build it yourself from scratch - This involves buying a set of plans and going out on your own to find the parts that you need to construct the wind turbine device. This can be a very rewarding exercise but it takes a lot of time and a lot of effort to find just the right parts. You also have to have some level of self-confidence and your mechanical abilities to be able to pull this off.

Buy one turnkey from a dealer - This is without a doubt the simplest way to get up and running with a home wind turbine but it is also the most expensive route to take. That is because you are having to pay multiple people in the process for their part in getting the wind turbine to you. Not only the manufacturer, but also the salespeople and installers along the line have to make their money. So, it is not the cheapest route but is certainly the simplest if your goal is just to get a simple wind turbine up and running at your house and producing energy.

You do not necessarily need to build the device yourself and buying from a dealer can be very expensive, but there is a third, much easier route to take. That is to buy a home wind turbine kit. The wind turbine kit combines the cost advantages of building one of these yourself from a set of plans with the professionalism in product support you would expect when buying one from a dealer. You should not expect right off the mark to supply all your power at home from a simple wind turbine though. A much more realistic goal is to have it supply power for one small appliance, like a freezer, or just to charge a set of batteries to use as backup later.

In conclusion, a simple wind turbine can be the solution for you if you select it right. The best way to get one into your life is to go the wind turbine kit route though.
