Before getting into Monaros specifications, let us get acquainted with its history. This Holden car was first marketed in the year 1968. The 1968 Monaro cars got launched by the car manufacturing company Holden Australia; these cars were coupes and were available in 3 trim levels. The company produced its first generation Monaros for 4 consecutive years, 1968-1971. The year 1972 saw the launch of the second generation of these cars, which were manufactured till the year 1977. Holden Australia discontinued the production of Monaros in 1978; however, the car was re-launched in 2001. The 2001 Monaros were referred to as the third generation Monaro cars; this generation ran from 2001 to 2006. The 3rd generation Holden Monaro was also exported to the United States, but under the name of Pontiac GTO.

Holden released its last Monaro model in the year 2005; it was named as the Monaro VZCV8. A special edition of the car was also launched in the second quarter of the same year; this special edition car was named as the CV8-Z. The CV8-Z was a limited edition car manufactured and marketed by Holden. Production of Monaros ended with the launch of the CV8-Z.

Both the Monaro VZ CV8 and the CV8-Z were 2-door sport coupes boasting rear-wheel drives. The limited version however had some extra features like a sunroof and several exterior upgrades. Both Monaro models were equipped with wheels of 18 inches and hoods accompanying mesh grilles and a pair of air scoops. The wheelbases of both Monaros were also same; both of them had 110.2 inches of wheelbase. Their overall length, on the other hand, was 188.6 inches. The cars overall width and height were 72.8 inches and 55.1 inches respectively. Both the models weighed 3,531.8 pounds.

Now, you have an idea how the exterior of the two 2005 Monaro models were. Let us now discuss the engine specification of the cars. Both models came with 5.7 liter V8 engines that were naturally aspirated and had overhead valves. The output of this engine was 349 hp at 5,600 rotations per minutes. Another standard feature of both Monaro VZ CV8 and CV8-Z was the 6-speed manual transmission. In addition to that, the users had the option of incorporating a 4-speed automatic transmission in their Monaros.

The other fascinating features included in these two 2005 models of Holden Monaro were: traction control, AM/FM audio equipped with 10 speakers, automatic air-conditioning, cruise control, leather seats, power windows, fog lights etc.
