subject: The Challenge For A Great Foyer Decor [print this page]

Before leaving for a short vacation with her girlfriends, my mother challenged me to change the decor of any one place in the room (she often claims that I am lazy and therefore, this was my punishment homework sort of a thing in her absence). This was the time for me to prove my home decor skills. But I was certainly not an interior dcor enthusiast and the task was difficult. Adding to my woes, I just had about a weeks time and some meager finances to accomplish the task. But I had to do it.

I chose to change the decor of the foyer, the smallest place in our house! Creating a clutter free haven was a challenge that I undertook. I had to be brutal and had to clear out everything that was not required or was not used. All these years, I was struggling with memorabilia, however at this time realization dawned that all things are not memories!

Foyers serve as a symbolic tunnel from the crazy outside world to the calm oasis of your house. They serve no utilitarian purpose rather than making a royal impression with a grand entry. There is traffic going constantly in a foyer so you can't sit down and entertain. The main purpose is to create an aesthetic entrance, when someone walks through the foyer. This is a part of what I learnt about a foyer dcor, after my online research, and it indeed enlighten me.

The foyer that we had was literally used as a storage room to hang coats, put shoe racks etc. Now I realized how unappealing that was! The time and money spent on the rest of the house didn't matter, if the foyer was a junkyard. Guests seared a bad impression for the entire house for the rest of their lives. Nevertheless, everything was transformed, by using laminate countertops and composite laminates on the furniture used in the foyer. It gave a new and innovative look to the foyer and to the furniture. As compared to other products, they were quite economical too. The complete clutter switched into a new decor with the meager finances I had. Laminates, with its excellent finishing, intricate patterns, and vibrant colors, totally revolutionized my foyer space.

The moment someone walks through your foyer, they should feel welcome-d. What better way to welcome them than by using laminate, laminate countertops and composite laminates making the space beautiful. A bonus idea is to place some fresh flowers on top off the furniture inducing freshness while one enters. Then it was time for mom to enter the house after a week. She entered with her drooping head zero expectations for obvious reasons! But was happily surprised to see the decor change. Her entry was nothing short of a royal entry and I won the challenge hands-down. Again for obvious reasons!
