And it has been a global rule of Economics, as the demand rises the rate automatically rises. And the same applies to the real estate market of Mumbai also.

Everyday there are many guidelines being released by the Governments about buildings and its construction.

This time Government has issued another set of guidelines, to built up a property in Mumbai and Maharashtra, in which if you are willing to develop a building, you must have a Rainwater Harvesting Plant in it. Otherwise no permission will be granted to built it up.

The strict step has been taken to control the very poor water level in Mumbai and the state. The Water Supply Minister of Maharashtra uttered in a recent press conference in the city, The water level in the states rivers and lakes has been poor. People should take responsible steps towards the use of water. To tackle the shortage of water shortage in the Mumbai city, the water supply department will call up a meeting with chief minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan and some other BMC officials. We are to give proposal to that not even a single building proposal gets nod from Municipal Department officials if it does not have rainwater harvesting system,

Some efforts were made in late 2002 by the BMC to control the decreasing water level in the city but that was not at par. They, in that bill, mandated it for every building on a plot measuring a minimum of 1,000 sq m to have a rain water harvesting plant. They rule was not followed by the people as it was imposed strictly and many a property in Mumbai were not developed according to the rule decided by the Government.

In the year 2007, the government reduced the size of these developments to 300 sq.m. According to recent Bombay Municipal Corporation's data, a few thousand buildings in the city were yet to follow the rule even there were incentives for setting up the rain water harvesting plant, being offered.
