subject: 3 Mistakes That Can Ruin Your Diet [print this page] There come times on your weight loss Journey, where you get stagnated out of nowhere. Weeks go by and the digits on your scale are still the same. Your fat loss process seem to pause, and you just can't drop any more pounds. This of course has a reason, and if you don't identify it you'll be committing the same mistakes over and over again, and you'd probably end up frustrated and quit.
These are some common mistakes people make while trying to lose weight, so make sure you're not doing these things or you won't be happy with what the scale will show you.
- Eating more than what you believe you are:
Don't go on a diet estimating servings, snacks... etc. You are most likely to underestimate your meals volume if you're just guessing how much it weighs. Instead calculate how much calories your meal will have and make sure you're not exceeding your daily intake. It might be tough at the start to calculate your meals value, but once you get used to it it'll become second nature, and you'll find it very easy to evaluate your meals accurately.
- Eating 3 main meals a day:
We are used to having 3 main meals a day. This is good if you want to save time cooking more meals and washing dishes, but it won't help you if you're trying to lose weight. To keep your diet balanced you'll have to eat more frequently at smaller portions. it is recommednded to have at least 4 or 5 meals a day. Your body will have the right amount of food to process, and by having closer meals there is less chance to trigger your bodys starvation reflex which is the main reason to store fat.
- Having "diet" drinks and bars as part of your diet:
Energy bars, fruit smoothies, diet drinks, weight loss shakes... While most of these products have 0% fat and sugar, they are still rich in high glycemic carbohydrates which force a sudden rush of glucose into your bloodstream.
This will cause your insulin to spike in order to control your blood sugar, making your body relying only on the produced glucose as the main energy source, instead of feeding on your body fat.
If you think it stops at that then you're wrong, because the fat you have just consumed is basically useless, and your body will have to pile it over the other pounds of flab you are trying to drop.
When you devise a dietary plan make sure to avoid these mistakes, because you want to make the most out of your calories to help you lose fat.
