subject: Sap Business One For Multinational Company Highlights And Faq [print this page] International Business is often more complex that you would of think about it. In foreign countries people speak and write in foreign languages and some of them are really difficult to learn Chinese for example. ERP platform for the whole corporation is difficult one to choose and you should be ready to do compromises. Lets review the topic in brief and then try to answer popular questions:
1.Which languages are supported in SAP B1? You can find complete documentation on the company website. To give you brief answer all major world regions are supported except probably Arab world. Application is translated to such languages as Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese, Russian, French and Spanish just to open the list. However you should understand that the interface in foreign language is often not enough as countries have unique tax codes and compliances. You can either switch from the one language to another or assign the it in defaults to named user
2.How consolidated financial reporting could be realized? Popular methods were GL consolidation where you are creating so-called consolidated company and move all General Ledger entries via integration tools. This method was very popular in earlier 1990th in such accounting systems as Scala or Sun Accounting. Please note that such financial reporting tools as FRx and Microsoft Management Reporter are not available for SB1 at this time (written in May of 2012)
3.Business One in large multinational group. SAP seems to increase the number of possible users and it might be up to one or two hundreds of named user licenses. Here the cool feature is ERP localization in various countries and this makes application attractive platform for multinationals. We often see the compromises when in the headquarters you have something like Microsoft Dynamics GP and in Brazilian or Chinese subsidiaries you have to appeal to B1. This is OK. Consider exporting GL entries from SB1 and importing them to GP via Integration Manager. At this point FRx or MMR should be able to do the job to generate consolidated P&L
Lets answer popular questions from our consulting practice:
Q. Brazilian SPED or Public Digital Bookkeeping System in English translation is it realized? Our Brazilian CPA has great concerns about its complexity
A. SPED is automated via third party ISV channel add-on. You should expect the price to be high as it is higher than one professional named user license. We still believe that this is a good investment as the cost of hiring CPA firm to file SPED on your behalf every month is higher
Q. We are acquiring mining facility in Eastern Siberia in Russian Federation. Our Russian accounting lady tells us that there are unique regulations in RF including IRS standard chart of accounts and special way to do GL entries (account 20 main production for example). Could we rely on Business One in Siberia?
A. SAP BO is available in Russian language user interface. In our practice we sometimes recommend to export GL transactions to local packages such as 1S Accounting (1C Bukhgalteria in Russian) from where you can easily produce annual and quarterly reporting including Balance (magic word in Russia as you have to be sure that double entry is met)
