subject: The New Range Of Solar Control Glass From Saint-gobain Glass Sgg Evo [print this page]

Green buildings have become the need of the hour because of increase in energy consumption across the globe and shortage supply of the same. Today, more and more architects, builders are transforming their buildings to green buildings.

Green buildings are designed using energy efficient building materials. The use of these material contribute to saving in energy consumption of the buildings.

Glass has become an important building material because of its transparent and aesthetic properties. The latest in glass are the solar control glasses which filter the suns heat coming into buildings, thus keeping the building interiors cool and thus saving energy used for air conditioning .

Saint "" Gobain has launched a new range of solar control glass called EVO. This glass is a state ""of ""the art new age glass ideally suited for green buildings. Evo can be used for building facades, skylights, windows, building curtains etc.

Evo is an advanced Solar Control Glass and is manufactured by deposition of specialized metallic nitrides. This is done by magnetically enhanced nano technology based cathodic sputtering under vacuum conditions onto clear or body-tinted glass.

SGG Evo is a green building glass compliant with the requirements of green buildings and ECBC (BEE) norms. It is highly recommended for buildings that are undergoing certification for LEED/IGBC and TERI-GRIHA.

Green buildings require glass which have low values of U value and solar factor. These factors are important for performance of a glass. Solar factor measures the amount of heat which gets blocked and the u value measures amount of heat transferred because of the temperature difference between the exterior and interiors of the buildings. The lower the values for a glass the better the solar performance of the glass.

Evo has low levels of solar factor and internal reflection while having high light transmission. Its exceptional U-Value properties and high energy-efficiency are added advantages. SGG Evo imparts excellent solar control and thermal insulation in a single glazing application.

SGG Evo has a wide range of applications including structural glazing, facade glazing, bolted systems, curtain walling and fenestration applications. It can also be used in single glazing, insulated glazing units, double glazed units, laminated, heat treated and bent glazing units.

SGG Evo comes in a variety of light shades and hues. It has been designed in three variants - SGG Evo Clear Cosmos (ET 125), SGG Evo Green Aura (ET 425) and SGG Evo Orion Blue (ET 725). It is available in a thickness range of 4mm, 5mm, 6mm and 8mm (on special request) as well as in 10mm and 12mm (for neutral shades).
