subject: Special Edition Discovery [print this page] The Land Rover Discovery 4 has turned in to quite an iconic model for the British brand, it has gained a following quite quickly. Specialist forums and websites love the Disco 4; it is no longer seen as a work horse but more as a luxury 4x4. Over the years the Land Rover Discovery has evolved to look more corporate and stylish, rather than just a rugged looking 4x4. I have noticed that the Discovery is the vehicle of choice for many government divisions too including VOSA, Traffic Officers and the Fire Brigade.
Now Land Rover has launched a new trim level for the Discovery to emphasis on luxury, fittingly it is called the Land Rover Discovery Luxury Edition. It will go on sale in July this year with a starting price tag of 56k. The Luxury edition will be powered by Land Rovers 256 PS SDV6 diesel engine with a 0-60mph time of 8.8 seconds and top speed of 112mph the same engine found in many used Land Rover examples.
The special edition model will only be available in Santorini Black with bright silver finishing which picks out the full-length roof rails and complements the Noble plated door mirror caps and Titan Silver bonnet script and tailgate badge. The front grille has been given a make-over, it is finished in Indus Silver and the grille vanes in body colour. Door handles are in body colour and the exterior is finished off with a set of 20-inch, 10-spoke alloy wheels.
On the inside the leather interior will be available in Ebony or ivory, it will also have an extended Windsor Leather Pack to the fascia top, instrument panel binnacle, door top rolls, armrests and pull. The interior detailing is complete with a new Dark Zebrano veneer and twist pile luxury carpet mats with contrasting edging.
Land Rover have made other upgrades available for this model, optional extras include the Harman/Kardon LOGIC7 Premium Audio system which provides 825W of power.
