subject: The Three Germans [print this page]

For some people shopping for a new car buying something prestigious is important and if it is they tend to go for well known car makers such as BMW, Mercedes and Audi. And rightly so as these German automakers are usually synonymous with build quality and reliability. And because cars from automakers like these are well respected, these cars also tend to keep their value well so when you come to sell you still get some money back which you can spend on your new purchase.

The BMW 3-series is probably one of the most popular cars amongst the German offerings and rightly so as it frequently is hailed as being the best executive car on the market. It offers a firm but smooth ride and if you opt for the 320d youll get a vehicle which also offers excellent fuel economy. As with all three makes, resale value is good.

The wow factor however is perhaps greater if you go for a Mercedes C-Class Saloon as the car is more refined and all models come with lots of equipment as standard. It is however the most expensive of the three makes making it prohibitive for some but resale value is high and fuel economy great so after that initial hit, youre on to a winner.

The last one to look at is the popular Audi A4 which is a cheaper vehicle to buy than the Mercedes and the BMW and thus delivers on cost but also delivers on space and grip. One of the best buys would be the 2.0-litre diesel version which is a great performer as well as being frugal and not emitting a lot of CO2. It also scores highly in terms of security with amongst other things six airbags, deadlocks and alarm. If you want to test drive either the BMW, the Mercedes or the Audi A4, London is one area where this is possible. This might show you that there is little between these three cars and that the cheapest option is in fact the better one.
