They also get to see all their friends in individual pictures. When it is time to purchase yearbooks each year, many students look forward to it and make sure to buy one for each year.
The yearbooks that we enjoy today were introduced to schools in the mid 1820's. Picture yearbooks were not popular until the invention picture cameras. Once these cameras became popular and were introduced into the masses, schools took advantage of them. Students were able to photograph all the things around school and pictures of students.
Not all schools across the country were able to enjoy the initial trend for selling yearbooks. These schools weren't able to enjoy these modern yearbooks because they couldn't afford to purchase a picture camera. Many of these students weren't able to buy a yearbook either because they didn't have the money to do so. As the costs of these yearbooks became affordable, students and families were happy to buy their yearbook.
When people think of yearbooks, they aren't the same as the yearbooks that were available over 100 years ago. When people look at the history of the yearbook, they will see that the purpose for the yearbook has changed dramatically. They are actually shocked at the changes that have been made to the yearbook and its use.
When historians look at the use of yearbooks, they are surprised to find that they were used for legal purposes. As these books were used to record the decisions that came from different legal disputes. They were often referred to when there was a legal issue that was presented and they were at a loss as to how to settle the matter. Yearbooks were very popular for those purposes.
Although there aren't many around to be viewed, some of those that are can be dated back to the Middle Ages. It was a common occurrence for those that lived during that time to bring up disputes to their legal disputes to their feudal lords to be heard and settled. Yearbooks that are available today have completely evolved from the ones that were available in the Middle Ages. Rather than be used to record different legal decisions, they are now used to record personal journeys and growth. No matter how people choose to use their yearbook, it is still a record and worth sharing.
