subject: Sony Vaio Z Series Vpc-z390x [print this page] Sony has yet again come with an upscale 13 inch laptop, Sony VPC-Z390X. Its ultra thin body structure, fast performance and presence of docking system for optical disk drive and discrete graphics can even make MacBook Air to run for its money.
Although this updated version of VAIO Z series comes at cheaper rates than its predecessors. However, the price rage still falls under premium priced laptops. It would be better to go for more ultra-Books, leaving behind GPU dock system of VAIO Z.
Sony VPC-Z390X is a 13 inch SSD laptop. Prior to this, Sonys VAIO Z series laptops are known for its high ending prices. However, its long life sliced battery and a unique GPU and optical disk drive dock makes its demand among the customers.
VAIO Z series was first released on summer of 2011. Its impressively ultra thin 13 inch body grabs the attention of crowds. Ultra thin laptops like MacBook Air and Samsung Series 9 were also released at the same time. However, the additional features that are included in VAIO Z series outdid other ultra thin laptops. VAIO Z series had separate docking station, which includes some extra ports and connections. The additional feature included in this Z series ultra thin laptop which impresses me a lot is the presence of Optical Disk drive and AMD Radeon GPU.
However, within a moth the perception of how and what should be the prices of ultrathin laptops have changed. Current, Ultrabooks comes with 13 inch screen, Core i5 processor and SSD hard drive. The biggest difference between the Z series and other laptops are the prices. Now, Ultrabooks cost starts from just $799 and there are few which could creep up to $1000. However, the prices of Z series starts from $1,649 and can go as high as $3,000.
Sony VPC-Z390X comes at $1649 and $1,999. As expected it has body and designs are excellent. It feels compact and solid as like MacBook Air. The only feature which seems odd is its stamp sized touch pad.
It has 2.5GHz Intel Core i5-2450M processor, along with 4GB, 1333MHz DDR3 RAM to give enough speed and high performance to the Laptop. However, the amount of space available for storing is supported with just 128GB SSD hard drive. It include Intel HM65 Graphic card.
Sony VPC-Z390X has dimensions of 13.0 x 8.2 x 1.3 - 1.5 inches. The most interesting feature included in this ultra thin laptop is the availability of DVD burner optical dick drive.
