subject: Operation Cyber Protect - Free Computer Hardening By The Pros! [print this page]

Operation Cyber Protect is comprised of 6 IT Professionals from various backgrounds and decided after the OCP founder Ms. Leonard, gave them their annual prep talk; that they would team up with her to rid America of as many 'Weakest Links' as possible.

The weakest link is described by this awesome IT team as being any computer user USA, that's unaware of just how to keep safe online. Operation Cyber Protect takes their message to the streets- literally. And vows to protect America's Assets, One computer and device at a time!

Today we hear so much about computer viruses, email viruses, and email scams it seems like nothing new. However, with Ms. Leonard having always had interests in forensics, computers, and the like- decided she would do something about the wool being pulled over most of America's eyes, about just how bad Cyber Crime can be!

They have even gone as far as giving this futuristic Cyber Team a name; they're called the Cyber Force Army (USA) and currently houses over 12 Cyber Deputies. They also have a meetup website for Operation Cyber Protect and currently only have a few people signed up there from what I can see.

As for what else that's pretty obvious at this point, Operation Cyber Protect is definitely starting a trend. From the old Block Club and Neighborhood Watch concepts, these guys and gals are definitely founders of a movement. Taking Cyber Initiatives all on their own, it's no surprise that Miss Leonard and most of her Cyber Force Team are prior service military. In fact, Miss O. Leonard is a former US Navy Veteran. And while serving as a Hospital Corpsman and Aerospace Med Tech., it was quickly discovered that she had computing skills that were off the chart.

She has actually been interviewed recently and explained that she was and still is shy about her computing background, unless the emphasis is on education and training- which she apparently loves!

But what's even more interesting is something she's still embarrassed about; her Pentagon Interview. Apparently her mind went completely blank when being asked very basic questions on Network Admin such as; "What is the most popular Intrusion Detection Software?" (Which she calls IDS). Trying to fake it wasn't working and her mind as the story is told- went completely blank during the interview she's always dreamed of.

Well, I guess she's snapped out of it and is back on the grind.

I'm sure you'll hear a great deal more about Operation Cyber Protect, as they help citizens harden their computers and mobile devices, in Alabama and California to start. They plan on making their efforts nationwide; in order to teach their communities- most recently... beginning with Madison, Alabama about hardening their computers to better resist attacks, and so on.

Currently Operation Cyber Protect Cyber Deputies and local residents meet in Madison Alabama City Hall at 100 Hughes Road in Madison, Alabama 35758 on the 3rd Thursday of the month (excluding Federal Holidays). With guest speakers and other surprises including door prizes, this is definitely a trend I am looking to enjoy!

Free services from the pro's on such things as Cyber Fraud Reporting Procedures, how to work with US Cert and more... Operation Cyber Protect and their Cyber Deputies are surely built to last!
