subject: Stylish Medical Uniforms On And Off Screen [print this page]

Who could have imagined that the television program Greys Anatomy would capture the hearts and minds of not just the sort of sit at home novices that watch medical dramas but also people who work in the medical field. Mostly it is probably the style of the show and how somehow while wearing medical uniforms like lab coats and scrubs. As everyone who works in the medical field knows by now looking good strutting around in medical uniforms is much better when your solving televised medical crises than solving real world medical crises. Not that that reality would stop folks from using the television show as an excuse to up their game when it came to designing medical uniforms and hospital scrubs.

As the culture took in the biggest television show about doctor's since NBC's ER the industry around scrubs began to make clear efforts to make better scrubs with a variety of designs. In the process a number of big fashion brands wormed their way into the market and pushed the better designs and higher quality garments still further. Each company would bring different qualities to the area of the clothing market which had prior seemed drab and certainly did not seem like a great place for fashion designers to seize on customers and profit. Dickies scrubs would take their high quality cuts and durable materials into the market, while Cherokee scrubs would change the sorts of prints that were common among medical uniforms.

Health care and medical care are one of the most consistently growing fields in the professional world. As manufacture and even banking have peeled jobs recently their has been a consistent uptick in people working in health care administration. As a result ignoring this specific but basically gigantic area of the clothing buying public was simply no longer an option for even some of the largest names in clothes. They simply needed a piece of a very lucrative and fertile market.

These days finding the stylish sort of Greys Anatomy scrubs that are worn on that and pretty much any other show where doctors save lives and look good doing it is easier and easier. There are online retailers selling the stuff for incredible low prices. The entire market has changed so much that these days even dental uniforms are starting to look kind of sharp. It almost begs the question, when will the dentists get their sexy TV moment?
