subject: Surviving High School [print this page]

It can be a bit scary when going into high school for the first time. We know that it is more than just worrying about what acne treatment is best for you. That is why we are writing this for you.

Positivity is key!

When beginning the high school portion of your education, it is more than likely best that you keep a positive perspective on everything. Do not be too overwhelmed, you are going to learn a lot about life throughout the next four years and it is okay if you mess up every now and then. Just remember all of the good things such as your friends and what you are going to learn. If you choose not to, you won't have to dive into the whole dramatic part. Sometimes you will get caught up, everyone does, but don't make it a habit. No one can truly thrive on drama alone, plus it won't matter in the end anyway.

We all know that you have no choice when it comes to going to school, but you do have control over how you act and react to situations in life. You can make the decision to not be involved in all of the drama that other people perpetuate. You have the choice in who you decide to be your friends and you do not have to be friends with people that perpetuate drama. If you are having a hard time in school, you have the choice to make more of an effort or ask for the help necessary. It can get overwhelming, but there are people there that can help you when you aren't sure you can cope. Just keep a positive outlook and you will get through it. We recommend that you find things to do with your time to keep yourself out of trouble. You could join some sort of band in the school or maybe find something to do that doesn't have anything to do with school for afterwards. It will help to keep you out of trouble, especially if you have friends that take part in the same programs.

Don't let drama take over

We all know that drama is all over the place in high school. It isn't always going to be easy to avoid, but remember that we have control over how we react to everything. We could either add to the problem or ignore it and add to the solution. It doesn't matter what the troublemakers think anyway, just remember that. We can only control how we treat people and how we treat ourselves. Have enough respect for yourself to walk away.

We also feel that being incredibly organized will be helpful in a number of ways. Make sure that you have all of your school work organized in an easily accessible binder with folders. Make sure that your locker is properly organized. Sometimes looking through a messy locker can cause you to be late. Many high schools only have 2 minutes in between classes and being late is never good. It is not worth that detention slip, trust us.

We all know that it is important to teenagers to fit in, but just remember to be yourself. There will be people there that are going to be genuinely interested in being your friend. You don't have to be perfect, just concentrate on your schooling and ohbuy some acne treatment. You never know.
