Once you are infested, its hard to get rid of them. What I didn't know, however is that the actually sell a moth catcher designed specifically to help draw them out and trap them. That combined with a little preventative maintenance and a good cleaning can get rid of those annoying little food bugs for good. Here's how you can get rid of your annoying problem:

Get the moth trap. You can usually find it at a home improvement store and some big box stores, or wherever they sell pesticides. This is not a pesticide though. How is works is very simple and effective. They have a sticky surface to trap the bugs that are attracted by using pheramones. This does not catch all of them, but it does seem to draw them out of the cracks when they are ready to mate. Just opening the pheramone pouch had them flying around me in seconds.

Through out any infested food and clean your cupboards, cracks and countertops with soapy water. Follow up by taking an extra step and cleaning the crevices and cracks with vinegar. They like to lay their eggs and hide in the corners, including the bend where your walls and ceiling come together. Don't forget to look up and check there, too.

Use bay leaves in your cabinets. For some reason, they don't like bay leaves. I have even heard that basil does the trick as well. Put some fresh leaves in your cupboard. You can also drop a bay leaf in your flour to keep them from making a home there.

If you have these pesky flying bugs, you should know that its not your fault the you became infested. They can travel in unsuspected from the supermarket or just about anywhere.
