subject: Ratatouille: An Overall Good Animation Film For All Ages! [print this page] My favorite has now become animation filmsMy favorite has now become animation films. Whenever I get free time, I try to watch as many films as possible. So, yet again I bought an animation film through the features that I had in my Time Warner Bundles. The name in itself was intriguing and watched the movie during the weekend. I browsed online to know the meaning for the word ratatouille and the first page that popped is that it is a French dish. It is an apt name for the movie as it is the key dish that is mad in the movie. But the name also hints on the species that plays the main character, a rat.
Ratatouille is and animation comedy film that released in the year 2007. The movie was produced by Pixar studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. The movie has been directed by Brad Bird and the movie is the eighth production by the Pixar studios. The protagonist in the movie is a rat named Remy for which the voice-over has been given by Patton Oswalt. As I said previously, the movies name refers to the French that plays a key role in the movie. Also to the rat which is the main character of the movie. The movie shows the emotions of the rat and the world through a rats eye beautifully.
Remy is a rat that is gifted unusually with a great sense for taste and smell. His idol is a veteran chef, Auguste Guteau who died recently. Following his steps, Remy dreams of becoming a chef one day. When he gets separated from his clan and finds himself in front of Gustaves restaurant with the help of the deceased chefs spirit. Linguini finds himself in a situation where he has to re-create the signature soup dish. Remy jumps in and helps him in making the dish rather than running away. Eventually Linguini is taken in as a chef after the soup becomes a huge success and Remy starts to help him by being inside his chef cap.
Skinner finds out that Linguini is Gustaves son after getting suspicious about his newly acquired culinary skills. But, Remy helps Linguini in getting back the restaurant after collecting evidence. Meanwhile, a romance starts between Colette a fellow chef and Linguini. One day, Frances known critic Anton Ego, who was responsible for Gustave restaurants fall, decides on reviewing the restaurant again. The chefs walk out after realizing that Linguini is helped by the rat and Colette returns later. Remys family come to the rescue after they see his determination. Though the restaurant gets a great review, the restaurant gets closed due to rodent infestation. Antom also loses credibility as a critic for writing a glowing review for this restaurant. The rest of the story is whether Remy and Linguini are able to start another restaurant.
The relationship between the rat and a human is shown beautifully. It starts as a tentative relationship then buds in to a loyal friendship. The scenes where Remy hallucinates Gustave is shown really well and the dialogue exchange in these scenes is awesome. Though Gustave is shown as a hallucinated character, he plays a key role in the movie. The next highlight of the movie is linguinis lady-live, Charlotte. Initially when Charlotte is given the job of training Linguini, she hates it as she feels she has to babysit him instead of cooking. She is shown as a strong female character that is capable of fending for herself and having her own opinions. Charlotte is a stronger character than Linguini. The movie is an overall great watch.
