subject: Dealing With Longer Lashes Myths [print this page]

Have you ever experienced panicking over a loose eyelash you found on your face? If you have, have you ever wondered how did it ever happened. Have you thought about how other lashes fall off a few days after? There is really no need to panic at such occurrence. Eyelashes grow naturally soon after it falls off. It is a constant cycle, you will not even need a lash conditioner to make it grow.

Some of the popular myths regarding eyelashes is how a child can grow longer lashes if it is trimmed while the child is still a toddler. A lot of mothers and their children swear by this.

The truth of the matter is this has no scientific basis at all. There has been no single scientific study or experiment proving this claim. Just as has been mentioned above, eyelashes grow will grow every three to four weeks. Why risk the child"s safety for this? There is a possibility that you could poke the eyes of a child while trying to trim the lashes.

But let us just say that this insane method actually works. That a child can really have longer lashes if his/her guardians trim the lashes. The next question should be, will it work for a grown up like the one reading this article?

So how do you get longer lashes that would be the envy of girls and make boys do a double take? Here are some practical and doable solutions:

Step 1) Mascaras are always reliable go to tool. Sure, the effect will only last until you wash it off but it is an effective way to lengthen and make lashes appear thicker. Washing it off before you sleep is a must because it can make lashes brittle and weak if left overnight. Proper care should be done to maintain the lashes" health.

Step 2) You can always use the lip balm on your eyes. It can easily condition the lashes. Some of its users swear that it can even make lashes curl. Apply it before sleeping and then wash it off after waking up.

Step 3) Open your medicine cabinet and see if you have existing materials that could make eyelashes grow. See if you have Vaseline or petroleum jelly that you can put on your eyes to condition it. You can do it by cleaning a used up mascara wand. Just cover the wand with Vaseline and use it as an applicator. Though there are people saying this works, this could actually be a placebo effect or thinking that it works when it really does not.

You also have to be aware that your skin could react negatively to both the lip balm, Vaseline, or petroleum jelly. Better try it on a small patch of skin before fully applying it on the lashes.

Step 4) Instead of taking risks, why not go for products that are especially formulated to make eyelashes lengthen. After all the area around the eyes is extremely sensitive. There are a lot of them out there but this author recommends Lashove by Lora Vay for its hypo allergenic and non irritating formula.
