subject: Vending Machines - The Quick Fix [print this page]

Purchasing from a vending machine isnt something we put much thought into. We go up to it, decide what we want and get it instantly. We dont always notice how much work has gone into the process. The vendor has to first find a suitable location for the machine, place it there with products and make sure its working properly all the time.

As with every business, the customer is what keeps a business running. Without customers, how would you make any money? Part of the work involved is finding out what the customers want and do not want. What products they are interested in. Where would be the best suited locations to places these machines. These and many other questions have to be asked and answered continuously.

Buying from a vending machine isnt a big part of anyones day. Usually you dont even notice doing it. Sometimes you even go back a couple more times in the day and still dont really notice it. However, getting bad service from the machine often is something one would remember. Ever had the machine take your money and not give you anything back? This can be quite annoying. Most will not really bother with it if it happens to them once, and it should not happen to them twice with the same machine.

Always make sure your machines have enough products in them. Though your machine may have a good location and work well, if what the customer desires is not in stock, then thats one customer lost. You cant always replenish the stocks and there may be certain times during the day that you would be allowed to. If you would be unable to restock during the early mornings, late evenings or weekends, this may not be the business for you.

The more you know what a customer wants, the better off your business will be. Try to put yourself in the customers shoes. Think of your experiences with vending machines, what were the good and bad experiences. Focus on these and try to have a better understanding of what you can do to make your customers keep coming back.

It is the convenience of vending machines which make them very popular. Getting a drink or a snack during the day is quick and effortless leaving the customer with more time to do other things during their day. It really is important that the customer always gets what they want from the machine. It wouldnt be a good idea for them to expect to get a purchase but then get their money eaten up by the machine.

The vending machine owner and the customers have to rely on each other to get what they want. Communication is important from both parties. Do not hesitate to talk to the vending machine owner of your office building regarding what you would like, odds are its something hes been meaning to ask you. Next time you go to a vending machine, remember all the time and effort someone put into getting you your quick fix.
